Vola Sue Bowman, age 81 of Log Cabin Road in Berea, passed away on Friday, December 27, 2019 at The Terrace Nursing Home in Berea.
Sue was born in Rockcastle County, Kentucky to the late Tommy and Stella Montgomery Dees. She was a homemaker.
In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her siblings, Annie Pearson, Nora Poynter, Jim Dees, Steve Dees, Ida Mae Van Winkle, Mary Bowman; and grandchildren, Kyle Bowman, Tracey Phillips, Dottie Sue Bowman, Angel Faith Parker, and Gary Daniel Bowman.
She is survived by her loving husband, James Bowman; 11 children, Larry (Carol) Bowman, Anthony (Cheryl) Bowman, Mickey Bowman, Jeff (Ada) Bowman, John (Debbie) Bowman, Wesley (Renee) Bowman, Alberta Bowman, Richard Bowman, Gary (Donna) Bowman, Robert (Lisa) Bowman, and Delores (James) Sparks; 38 grandchildren, numerous great and great-great grandchildren; three siblings, Myrtle Rudie, Lillian Allen, and Donald Dees.
Funeral services will be 2 pm, Tuesday, December 31, 2019 at First Faith Independent Church in Berea with Bro. Larry Bowman and Bro. Darrin Slone officiating. Burial will follow in Bowman Cemetery in Climax, Kentucky. Visitation will be Monday evening from 6-9 pm at the church. Active pallbearers will be John Bowman, Richard Bowman, Robbie Bowman, Jeff Bowman, James Owens, Thomas Bowman, Christopher Crawford, and Joey Crawford.

I remember sue as a kid. They lived around the corner and sister dees was our neighbor. I’m very sorry to hear of her passing. God bless to her family.

Rest In Peace grandma!! Though you are surely missed more than words could ever say, I know heaven is a prettier place with you there. Please watch over us and know we may no longer have you here with us... but we will always have the memories we made with you. Love you lots grandma! You’re finally free of that wheelchair and can stroll heavens gardens with loved ones that have done gone on.
