Obituary

Lillie Jackson Thomas, born August 1, 1925 in Jackson County, KY, passed away Friday, December 27th, 2019 at the Compassionate Care Center in Richmond, KY being 94 years of age. She was the daughter of the late Jeff and Margaret (Spears) Jackson. Lillie is survived by her three daughters, Lois Sparks of Nashville, TN, Brenda Thomas, and Diana Thomas both of Berea, KY. Lillie was also survived by grandchildren Brook (Angela) Sparks, Shay Sparks, John (Courtney) LeQuire, Jessica (Rob) Darnell, Nanikee Thomas, and Chace Adkins. She had a host of great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren who all loved her very much. She is lastly survived by two sisters, Ruby Dixon and Virdy Isaacs and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was proceeded in death by her husband, Ester Thomas, by brothers Mones, Acy and Letcher Jackson and by sisters Rennie Pigg, Francis Baker, Aritha Chasteen, and Cleo Holt.

Lillie was of the Holiness faith and loved the Lord with all her heart. She was a talented seamstress and quiltmaker having taught herself as a child to sew. She had a good eye for design and fashion, and the quilts she left to her children and grandchildren are considered treasures. Lillie was also a great cook. Her memory of the people in her community and well beyond and how they were connected was remarkable. She made genealogy work for her family much easier. She loved her children and grandchildren and was generous to a fault with all of them. Lillie will be much missed by her family, but she is in a better place and is now at peace.

Funeral services will be 1pm, Friday, January 3, 2020 at Lakes Funeral Home in Berea. Burial will follow in the Scaffold Cane Cemetery in Rockcastle County. Visitation will be Friday from 11am to 1pm at the funeral home.

Lois, Brenda, Diana, Thinking of you at this sad time. Your Mom was always so sweet and treated me so good when I was in her home. I loved her fresh apple pie!!
