Obituary

Edward Charles Wuskell age 76, husband of Frieda Botkin Wuskell, who preceded him in death, passed away July15, 2020 at the VA Community Care Center on Leestown Road in Lexington KY. Ed was born June 21, 1944 in Hartford Connecticut to the late Wesley Michael and Anna Beatrice Sabonis Wuskell. Ed received his electronic education at Wards School of Electronics in Hartford. Ed was a veteran of the US Airforce and was a decorated Vietnam War veteran. He was awarded several medals during his service as a Defense System Specialist and trainer. He was an electronic and communications specialist. After his duty was completed in Vietnam, he was assigned to the Bluegrass Army Depot in Richmond. During this period of time, he met and married Frieda Botkin. After his service in the US Airforce he worked and retired from the General Telephone Company as an electronic technician. Ed grew up on his parent’s large commercial tree nursery farm in Hartford. He had a vast knowledge and love for Horticulture. Ed had a love for photography, his photos preserved many priceless memories for family and friends, he was also known for capturing the beauty of life and nature in picture. Ed was also highly creative and intellectual and loved using his creativity in making old things new again. Ed was preceded in death by his nephew Tim Wuskell of Connecticut and several other extended family members.
Ed is survived by his brother Ted Wuskell of Florida, his nephew Eric Wuskell of Florida, his niece Heidi Norris of Connecticut, his sisters-in-law: Hyla Woodlee Bright (Jack), Faye Ballinger, Marian Lambert, and Judy Clark (John), and brother-in-law Michael Botkin. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews whom he loved and had an instrumental influence in their lives and great nieces and great nephews who were incredibly special to him. Ed was dearly loved and will be missed by his family and friends, and he was a member of the Christian Faith.
Visitation for Ed will be Sunday July 19, 2020 at Lakes Funeral Home from 6-8 pm at Lakes Funeral Home. Funeral services will be Monday July 20, 2020 at 11 am at Lakes Funeral Home with Rev. Mitchell Tolle and Rev. Travis Ballinger officiating. Burial will be in the Berea Cemetery with Military Honors. Pallbearers will be Michael Botkin, Keith Woodlee, Mark Woodlee, Danny Ballinger, Greg Frazier, Franklin Frazier, J. Chris Clark, and Charley Clark. Honorary pallbearers will be John Clark, Lora Lambert, Katie and Joseph Sexton, great nieces and nephews.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to all members of the VA Healthcare team at Leestown, Clinical Community Care, VA Cooper Dr., VA Homebased care, primary care, and the specialty clinics, all who provided exceptional care and served Ed.

So sorry to hear of Ed's passing. I worked with Freda at Berea National Bank and knew Ed, of course. They were a great couple. He was always so caring and could do anything---fixed anything! I know of their restoring their home in Paint Lick. It was a n honor to know him! Will be praying for the family!
