Obituary

Clifton Eugene “Sparky” Sparks, 88, of White Lick Road in Garrard County, passed away April 4 at Northpoint Lexington Health Care Center after a long illness. He was a member of the Paint Lick, Cartersville and Berea communities and was husband of the late Delores Robinson Sparks.
Born July 2, 1931 in Garrard County, he was son of the late William Turner Sparks and Luvenia Stinnett Sparks. He was preceded in death by his eight siblings and his loving daughter-in-law, Carol.
He was a farmer, worked for several tobacco warehouses as a farmers’ representative and became part owner in the Winchester Tobacco Warehouse. He also had worked for the NYC Railroad in Indianapolis.
He was a Kentucky Colonel, a Fifty Years Mason and a member of the Madison County Saddle Club. He enjoyed growing tobacco, raising cattle, going to auctions, collecting antiques, arrowheads, fishing, telling and writing jokes, spending time with his family and horseback riding.
He is survived by his sons, Jerry Sparks of Cartersville, and Larry Edward Sparks of Lexington; three granddaughters, Crystal (Eddie) Tudor, Jessica Sparks and Stephanie (Shawn) Spencer; six great-grandchildren, Kylee, Karoline and Klayson-Bo Tudor; Caden, Laken and Brantley Spencer; and many great friends.
Due to current guidelines and conditions, a private graveside service will take place at Robinson Cemetery in Garrard County with Minister Chad Burdette officiating. Lakes Funeral Home in Berea is in charge of arrangements.
