Charles Robert Helton, 75, of Richmond, KY, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, January 19, 2021. He was born in Garrard County, KY on July 16, 1945 to the late Cynthia Belcher Croucher and William Helton, and grew up in Dowagiac, Michigan. Robert was a dedicated husband, father, father-in-law, grandfather, brother, son-in-law, and friend. He is survived by his beloved wife of 51 years, Rebecca Eden Helton; his loving daughters and sons-in-law, Kristy (David) Little, and Becky Ellen (Kevin) Miller; his grandsons, the lights of his life, Keaton and Tucker Miller and Sam Little; his mother-in-law, Joyce Eden; brother-in-law, Raymond J. Eden; three sisters, Janie (Robert) Lake, Etta (Roscoe) Asher, Edna (Benny) Johnson; and many nieces, nephews, and dear friends.
Robert was preceded in death by his parents, his father-in-law, Raymond B. Eden; two sisters, Lou Tishia Powell and Rose Peters; and two brothers, Billy Helton and Johnny Helton.
Robert was a graduate of Eastern Kentucky University with a degree in Computer Science. He spent many years in the computer field, employed by EKU and South East Coal Company of Irvine, KY. He later entered the restaurant business, owning and operating Lee’s Famous Recipes, including the Lee’s on Center Drive in Richmond. His last business endeavor was as owner and operator of Bluegrass BP on Richmond Road, from which he retired last year.
Robert was a deacon and dedicated member of Pilot Knob Missionary Baptist Church of Berea, KY, and was a board member of the Madison County Utilities District.
A walk-through visitation will be held at Pilot Knob Missionary Baptist Church on Friday, January 22, 2021 from 6 pm - 8 pm. Face coverings are required and social distancing must be observed. A private family funeral is planned for Saturday, January 23, 2021, with Reverend Greg Lakes and Reverend Ronnie (Butch) Pennington officiating. Burial will follow at Berea Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Bryant Eden, Shane Garrett, David Little, Sam Little, Keaton Miller, Kevin Miller, and Tucker Miller. Honorary pallbearers will be David Brandenburg, Dale Combs, Wendell Combs, Chris Eden, Darrell Hutchinson, Randy Lake, Rodney Lake, James Leach, T. J. Leach, Jack Maupin, Ronald Peters, Stacy Quinley, Jeff Sparks, and the deacons of Pilot Knob Missionary Baptist Church - Randy Calico, David Eades, Jeff Horn, Jeff Mounts, Sr., John Paul Ramsay, and Martin Ramsay.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital or Pilot Knob Missionary Baptist Church.
