Anita Carol Caldwell Roberts, age 79, passed away on May 26, 2020 in Richmond, Kentucky.
She was born at the Berea College Hospital on October 25, 1940 to John A. and Dorothy McCollum Caldwell of Paint Lick, Kentucky. She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Barbara Bates Caldwell.
She is survived by her brother, John K. Caldwell of Richmond, Kentucky, her uncle and aunt, Lowell and Mary Ann McCollum of Berea, Kentucky, along with numerous cousins. She is also survived by her caregivers, Katie Rollins of Paint Lick; Vonda Bratcher and Jenny Henson both of Berea. Words are not enough to thank, for the love and care they gave to her and her late sister Barbara.
We would like to express our tremendous support that Hospice Care Plus gave her over the past month.
Carol attended Kirksville High School until the county schools were consolidated into Madison Central, where she graduated in 1958. She also attended Eastern Kentucky University receiving a bachelor’s degree in history with additional graduate work for the University of Kentucky. After graduation from Eastern, she taught one year in Palatka, Florida. After missing Kentucky, she returned to Richmond, teaching two years at Kit Carson. Carol was accepted as a graduate assistant at Eastern, eventually becoming a member of the faculty where she taught Western Civilization in the History Department for over 30 years. She was a voracious reader, she was passionate about yard sales, flea markets, and antique malls becoming the quintessential pack rat.
Private family services will be held on Friday at Lakes Funeral Home. Burial will follow in the Old Paint Lick Cemetery. Funeral services will be live streamed on starting at 11 am.
